At the home health company I work for right now, it’s a fair work load. I typically see 3-6 patients a day which varies widely based on appointment type and patient need. I need to stay focused for all but 30 minutes of the day- Or else it will take much, much longer- say if I pushed off documentation in my time management strategy and delayed it till the end of the day. No bueno. Gotta stay focused. In home health, the driving acts as a built in “break” between patients. In other settings there are no such “breaks”.
For better or for worse, the productivity model is how the therapy world works- at least for now. Much of the time, this means I feel like a worker bee trying to stay as productive as possible. It’s definitely a balancing act.
I am a big proponent of financial independence. I fell down that rabbit hole a long time ago! If you haven’t read Choose FI, it is a must! One of the authors is a retired PT at the age of 41 👍👏 also, love your transparency and honesty about the work/life balance!
Great article, mirrors a lot of my own thoughts over the past few years about work/life balance. Let me know if you’ll be up my way, you’re welcome anytime!
Great picture of you and Erin. Safe travels home.
Can’t wait to see you in July. I love the kitty, she’s very cute!
