After I tore myself out of bed we drove to the trailhead and enjoyed a hike up in the dark where we spotted many desert mice, rabbits, and a tarantula. (I’m pretty sure I saw a desert tarantula or Aphonpelma chalcodes, which is the most common type of tarantula seen in Tucson). Once at the top we were prepared with some coffee and fruit while we watched the beautiful sunrise. On our way back down we had a awesome view of Tucson and enjoyed seeing the blooming Saguaro Cactuses that we couldn’t see in the dark.
