My younger sibling, Lem, came to visit Erin and me last week!
After working long and hard to finish up school at the University of Pennsylvania Lem is about to graduate! As a mini vacation prior to starting a service trip they came to visit us.
Erin and I had completely forgotten that our anniversary was the Friday that Lem arrived. So we went out for beer to celebrate!
The very first warming and drying period of the year had fantastic timing. We got two greats hikes in as the first sign of the weather shifting came in. We first explored the coast just west of Portland, about an hour and a half by car.
We hiked in Oswald West state Park, which features a nice hike to a cape through some preserved old growth forest.
On Sunday we ventured to the Gorge for a hike up the Oregon side of the Columbia river as it cuts through the cascade mountain range. No tourist to the Gorge should exclude the world famous Multnomah falls of course!
Erin and I have settled into our jobs and have even secured a permit to summit Mt St Helens in mid June. Many of you may remember our posts featuring our friend Alex, whom we met in Modesto CA almost 5 years ago. Him and his partner will be joining us for the attempted summit. Pray for good weather for us please!
Thanks for visiting Lem- and thanks for bringing some good weather. We will be headed back to PA this weekend for a weeklong visit before returning to OR to finish up our contracts and explore OR (and Hawaii-to visit our friend Jenn). See you soon!
