Driving over to our hike in the redwood mountain grove, we spotted a mama bear and her cub crossing the road. Later on, we spotted a baby bear while hiking! He was a bit close, so I quickly scared him off before I was able to take a picture. With our adrenaline pumping, we headed further down the trail -senses alert. And, suddenly, we hear the crunching of leaves and sticks that could only be caused by something rather large. Scurrying up to the top of a boulder, we could make out the shadowy outline of a massive black animal in the undergrowth. After a few seconds, we realized it was three black cattle staring back at us. When we asked a ranger about this later, he told us that cattle ranching was still performed in the national Forest that connects to kings canyon and that there are no fences. Still, we got a pretty good scare. When we first spotted the animals all I could think was “please, oh please be Bigfoot”.
Hey guys…. Robin & Shari checking in. Looks like you’re both having a blast. Good health and safe travels back home.
Sad to say… we have not been to the giant sequoias 🙄. But we will be in Mexico for two weeks soon!
Take care
Enjoy Mexico!! We just made it back to PA 🙂
