The visitor center had a small educational area and snack center. We learned that the grey/white sediment that is created by the weight of the glaciers is called glacier flour. Also we read information on Pikas. Pika are small mountain dwelling mammals that are often found in mountainous areas of the pacific northwest. Why highlight this animal in our blog post you might ask. Well, Patrick has almost obsessively been on a hunt to see a Pika hiking while in the PNW. We did not see a single Pika our whole contract, but finally spotted one at the top of a hike in Mount Rainier! We didn’t get a photo but please enjoy this image from google so you understand why we wanted to see one of these cute critters.
Your pictures are beautiful. Especially loved mountain picture and sunset! Had to go back if was a rise or set. HaHa!
